About every four years, the 390th Bomb Group Veterans
Association holds their annual reunion here in Tucson. It is always a great
pleasure to welcome the veterans, their spouses and descendants to the
museum they so generously support. This year was certainly no exception.
The veterans association has financed and installed a
fine exhibit for us. Please take a look at page 7 for additional details and
photos.
Our 2005 museum reunion is scheduled for March 10-13,
2005. This year we will move reunion headquarters to the Embassy Suites,
which is a little closer to the airport. This hotel features nicer rooms and
a better variety of perks for their guests. Embassy will also provide our
banquet this year so that we may avoid the cross town bus trip that was a
little inconvenient last time. This promises to be the best reunion yet, and
we hope to have a special surprise for all in attendance. No guarantees yet,
but Don Brooks is going to make every effort to have his B-17G Liberty Belle
in Tucson for the reunion. We will keep everyone informed on the status of
that possibility. Those who attended the 2004 reunion truly enjoyed
themselves and many have said they will be back for 2005. Be sure to mark
your calendars and join us in March 2005. Please remember this does not
replace the annual veterans reunion held every September.
It’s annual renewal time again. Statements will be in the
mail in the next several weeks. In spite of rising costs, we have been able
to stay viable this year, primarily due to modest increases in the number of
members. Our dues have remained constant for several years and we plan to
keep it that way for the foreseeable future. Our task here at the museum is
to maintain and perpetuate the legacy of courage established by the men of
the 390th Bomb Group. Your support is crucial to our being able to do that
and we ask that you renew your commitment to that cause. If you can, please
add a little extra to help us along.
Holiday season is upon us. There are several specials
available from the Museum BX to help fill that special gift need. One of the
nicest gifts you can give is a membership in the 390th Memorial Museum
Foundation…a very appropriate gift for a family member or an interested
friend. Use the form on the last page and be sure to check the proper box to
let us know that it is a gift membership and we will be sure to send the new
member a special letter commemorating your generosity.
