Volunteer in the Spotlight

Fall, 2004

“Hey Larry, come on over and give us a hand here!”  “OK, what do you need?”  That is a typical conversation with Larry Sanders, our Wednesday docent, who is also one of our most valued handymen.

He is shown below putting the finishing touches on one of his latest projects.  He was able to repair one of our evaporative hangar coolers.  The water supply lines had become plugged and Larry successfully fixed the problem.

Three of these coolers are called upon to  combat the Tucson summer heat in the museum hangar.  They are quite effective with appropriate maintenance and with low humidity but become inefficient when our summer monsoons come in.

Larry is always available.  In addition to his Wednesday docent duties, he aids in most any project we call on him to do.

After two years in the army, Larry  worked as a Sears Roebuck tool department salesman.  His experience equips him with a wealth of knowledge with which to apply his skills.

Thanks, Larry!  Your dependability and willingness to help with all our projects and as a docent is very much appreciated!
