President's Message
by Mary Pennebaker Truitt
Spring, 2004
During the recent Board of Director’s meeting, I was duly
elected as President of the Museum Foundation. I accept the position with
honor and look forward to working with Tom Drugan and the Board of
Directors.
The 3rd Annual Membership Reunion of the 390th Memorial Museum Foundation
was held April 15-17th, 2004. The attendance for the Reunion activities was
72. Friday’s choices of activities were golf, the Sonora Desert Museum and a
tour of 3 mission south of Tucson.
Saturday was devoted to the 390th Museum and Pima Air and Space Museum. We
had 5 veteran’s attending the Reunion who had never signed the “J” wall and
were honored to do so.
This year the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner and Reunion Banquet were
combined and held at the Viscount. We were given the latest update on the
B-17 restoration project by Don Brooks. Twenty four volunteers were in
attendance and accepted in appreciation a 390th Silver Key Chain. To end the
wonderful evening, group pictures were taken of the volunteers and then of
the veterans.
My husband, Jim, and I were very pleased with the turnout and were thrilled
with the number of descendants and veterans who attended the reunion and who
had never visited the museum before.
I especially want to thank Tom Drugan and Cori Tennyson for all their
coordination efforts on this year’s reunion. The reunion pins were once
again a big hit and the t-shirts sold well.
Please mark your calendars for the 4th Museum Reunion to be held in Tucson
March 10th – 12th, 2005.
I want to thank Frank Drain for his serving as President these past four
years. |
