Volunteer in the Spotlight

Summer, 2003

Eugene L. Radtke has only been with us for a little over two years but has made a very favorable impression on us with his hard work.

Gene comes in on Mondays and assures us of clean windows for all of the display cases as well as the main entry doors. After his clean-up duties he is then ready for any special assignments be it as a docent or in the research area.

Recently Gene has taken over the duties previously performed by Ken Allebach who retired to a retirement center back east. Gene is now working on finalizing the POW, Evader and Ditcher listings. He is also maintaining our automated INDEX listings for all 390th publications, mainly this Bulletin and the Veterans Newsletter issues.

Gene served in the U.S. Army Infantry as a Tank Commander.

In civilian life Gene worked for Lockheed Martin Corporation with various assignments including 13 months of service in Saudia Arabia and then as subcontract manager for various special programs with Lockheed, a company steeped in secret products.

He came to us because of his special interest in Military History as well as having an uncle that flew B-17s. He travels to the Museum from Saddlebrook, a community almost 50 miles away.

Volunteers such as Gene, with diverse capabilities, are critical to the successful continuing operation of our Museum and we therefore are very appreciative of his support. Thank you Gene.
