Around the MuseumWinter 2003-2004Squadron Signs Refurbished
John Day, our Tuesday volunteer/docent, shown here, has repainted the first of the four. John was a ball turret gunner with the 100th Group, our 13th Combat Wing mate. John not only has excellent docent capabilities, where he exhibits his teacher’s experience, but also has artistic talents that are quite an asset to our Museum.
The signs were planned to be relocated from the south entrance to the east as part of the main entrance change. This change is currently on hold. Electrical UpgradeOur display electrical panel has been upgraded from 50 amp service to 100 amps which should now put us in a good position to handle future loads. This refurbished panel is only for the hangar displays and lighting and does not include the heavier loads for the annexes which are on separate 200 amp boxes. We wish to thank the 390th Veterans Association and Paul Flotron, 570th pilot, for their financial support of this effort. Toilet UpgradeAs a result of our mentioning, in our last bulletin, the need for updating our toilets, we have been blessed with support from one of our descendants, Michael Auger of Germantown, PA. Mike furnished us with five new modern units. Mike is the son of Norman Auger, our 390th veteran who passed away three years ago. Norman was a waist gunner in the 570th squadron with the original crews. He was shot down and became a POW on his 13th mission, which was to Munster, 10 October 1943. AA |
