President's Message
by
Mary Pennebaker Truitt
Another year has flown by and once again the reunion committee has just
completed the Museum Reunion packet. The packet will be mailed the middle of
January. The reunion’s hotel this year is the Embassy Suites located
adjacent to the airport. We have negotiated an $85 rate which includes a
full American breakfast buffet, complimentary cocktails for two hours
nightly, a heated pool , spa, sauna and a weights/fitness center. The
outings offered on Friday include once again the mission tour and shopping
at Tubac, the Rotunda tour at Kartchner Caverns, golf at the recently
renovated El Rio municipal course, and a trip to Casino Del Sol. Friday from
3-5 when the tours end we will host an ice cream social. Saturday is blocked
out solely for the museum and then Saturday night is the seated banquet at
the Embassy Suites during which the museum volunteers will be recognized.
One addition to the reunion will be the opportunity for our veterans’
histories to be taped by Ray McFalone. Ray has been working on the Library
of Congress History Project and has taped many veterans. We encourage our
veterans to take the time to get interviewed for their family, the museum
and for the Library of Congress.
Don Brooks will be back to give us an update on the B17, Liberty Belle. The
plane has recently completed its first flight and Don wants to bring the
plane to Tucson but can’t commit at this point to this March.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the Museum in March. |
