What a great website! My late uncle William M. Glogovac was also the flight engineer / top turret gunner in crew 55, 570th. Must have been after George Schneider served. He was a gunnery instructor in Las Vegas and couldn’t get sent overseas until near the end of the war because of his “old” age – 31! He didn’t participate in any bombing missions as the other men were working on completing their 35 missions but he did a couple of food runs over Holland. Keep up the good work! – Ted Glogovac

My father, George C. Schneider, served with the 390 Bomber Group, 570th Squadron, crew #55 as flight engineer and top turret gunner. He won the Distinguished Flying Cross, but never spoke of any of it, I only learned about it from my mother, and a scrap book she had that my granmother kept during the war. Many thanks to those who served, and to those who keep their sacrifice alive through their efforts. All The Best Always, Jim Schneider
