Yes a great web site !

to all who take part of Mission 162 over Tours (France 1st Aug 1944), I’m writing a book about crew odissey.
B 17 G 37876 Sequatchiee II was the only ship not came back to Framlingham in England.
I have some photos of the crew, but none both of them before the B 17 and none of the ship before desintegrated in France…

I thought ” who, in the box would know something about crew or 37876 ? who, among the crews of the box would have informations or photos of others B 17 and crews of the box ?”

Excuse me if my english is very poor…

It’s for me a geat memory job because in 2003 whe gathered funds to make a monument in memory of the crew on the crash site. and it was made ! with some ceremonies.
Unfortunately Donald Jirik, the ball turret gunner who came back for the first time since 59 years, passed away (god bless him) the day after the first ceremony because of warmness, tireness and a too great emotion to meet the french who helped in 1944…. (I will send photos of the monument in this web site).
His son Dennis, my “brother Dennis” who came with his dear father lived a very sad moment. We helped him to organize the sad journey back to America.
Pilot Anthony j. FORTE is buried in the brittany cemetry in France and every year, I put flowers on his grave with an association created by frenchmen “Flowers of memory”

Only one crew member (I hope) lives in NJ, Stephen C. SIDEROFF. Who knows? I’m trying to contact again since 2003 by e.mail with no success….. Somebody could try to phone ? And tell him, I need to write ?

Then you know about what will be my job for many years….
If you can help me, it would be a very great pleasure
    God bless America

What a great website, I am a 15 year old high school student and have become a huge enthusiast of ww2 aviation history I also happen to live in Framlingham, just two miles from the 390th’s English home. If anyone is over in the UK we have a wonderful museum to the 390th in the old control tower on the airfield so do come and give us a visit you will always be welcome.

Greetings all. This is a wonderful website and has provided some very good information I would not have found anywhere else. I would like to ask if there are any members that have any information or photographs of the crew and aircraft “Cocaine Bill”. My great uncle flew on missions 119, 120, and 156 in June and July 1944. I have not been able to find images from any source. If there are any members or readers who have any information to share I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks a million!

    Dear all,

I’m still looking for information and some photo’s about 2 B-17 aircraft’s and there crew’s (also some crewmembers: Emerson G. North (CP), William F. Riordan (TTG), Thomas H. Lewis (BTG) and Dallas R Kremer (WG) all of the old crewnr. #63 from 1st/Lt. Gregor, who where not flying on that mission with crew #78 ) and groundcrew’s who had worked on them and can tell me some more about them.
    The 2 plane’s where:

    42-97983 DI-Z of the 570st BombSquadron, with crewnr. #51 of 1st/Lt. Larue F. Cribbs.

    and

42-107070 FC-A “North Star” of the 571st BombSquadron, with crewnr. #78 of 1st/Lt. Lawrence J. Gregor.

This 2 plane’s where collided with each other on July 07 1944 above Hoorn here in Holland.
I’m interested in this crash for many years and in 1995 there was a monument unveiled voor them.

Hopefull is there someone who can help me and special on some photo’s af the aircraft’s and the noseart of the “North Star”.
Does somebody also know who and why they gave the 42-107070 that name?

Thank you for your help and best wishes,
    Frank Leek

A group of RAF Martlesham Heath, Suffolk, England aviation enthusiasts have started a website on Martlesham Heath, if there is anyone that has a connection to the base when the USAAF flew P51’s and Thunderbolts from the base we would love to hear from you.

    Thank you in advance

I have information on the final flight and will look in my father’s (William Harding) belongings we I get back from my travels this weekend. From the story my father told me the aircraft lost half of his wing and he headed for Switzerland. As he flew it was report to him that the crew could see fighters taking off to intercept them. The Virgin Sturgeon was later in that flight shot down by a fighter which I’m being told was a ME110. My father and mother went to Germany a few years before he died and while dining and drinking with some Germans at a Gusthaus came to realize that on of the gentlemen was the pilot who shot my father’s aircraft down. The aircraft was losing altitude over the trip and I’m unclear if the fighter show it down while my father was still in the aircraft or shortly after he bailed out.

For the benefit of all who may be interested, the Veterans’ Reunion is being held in Nashville, TN October 6-10. All veterans who are currently enrolled as members of the Veterans Association have received their invitations. Those veterans who are qualified to attend may take family members as their guests. All the information regarding this reunion emanates from the Veterans Association. The museum has no part in this function except to collect names of descendants who would like to attend but do not have a veteran relative to host them.
