This is in reference to Crew 38 (Shira Crew) of the 569th Bomb Squadron. I am the nephew of Joseph P. Callahan, waist gunner, and have documented a research of their 34 missions, 174-254, during the period of 15 August '44 to 14 February '45. If there are any of the following crew members or their descendant's who would be interested in a copy of this history please let me know:

Hewitt T. (Buck) Dunn, Gunner/Bombardier Glenn Burnett, Engineer
Joe R. John, Co-Pilot Charles K. Williams, Radio Operator
Ralph A. Forrest, Navigator Elmer H. Petrashek, Ball Turrett Gunner
George E. Mineur, Bombardier

Wilson Shira was the co-pilot/pilot of this crew and flew all but one of the 34 missions (but flew with another crew for his 34th)and Dick Cowles (tail gunner) and Glenn Burnett flew everyone of the 34 missions.

Hope to hear from you.

This is the first time I have seen this site. Mr grandfather Frank Langan flew with the 571st. I have a jacket he painted himself, and a model complete with fighter escort, also painted to specific detail. He unfortunately isn't with us anymore but I know he was a proud man and was a member here. It is nice to see everything here and know that the men here and what they did WILL NOT be forgotten.
Thanks for all the hard work that has gone into the making of this site, and keep up the great work!
I love you gran-dad!

Great Site My father Bernard Hayward was pilot of "My Bonnie/Maiden Prayer/Starduster
He passed in March 2005. I have been to the Museum a few times. While I was living on the west coast. It is a moving experiance, especially the wall of signatures.

My father (Clarence Medeck) flue in the "Pistol Packin Mamma/ Betty Boop". He was the radio operator/waist gunner. He flew all 25 missins and was wounded by flack. We still have the piece of flack. He has left us now, and is missed very much.
This is my first time to this site and I have not seen it all yet. But I will shortly.
