"The Men Who Were There"

During our Museum reunion last June, five of our veterans relayed their experiences of the war in a two hour tape recording now available in VHS form.

 The five speakers were:

Bill Pennebaker, 44 Missions, original crew, with almost all as Command Pilot. A real survivor.

Andy Anzanos, Engineer/TT, 26 missions, Nov. 1943 through March 1944. Survived combat to be shot down by friendly fire.

John Warner, Co-pilot, 35 Missions, including surviving a catastrophe and escaping on one engine.

Richard Bushong, Co-pilot and Pilot, 28 missions, starting Dec. 1943. His survival of numerous catastrophes is astounding. Later he became a test pilot.

“Ben” Bennett Pilot of “Squawkin Chicken”, sole squadron survivor on his second mission with the 384th Bomb Group. His humor comes through on this tape to further make a treasured item.
