Anthology II
Volume II of The 390th Bomb Group Anthology includes 79 stories written by 63 members of the 390th Bomb Group relating their personal experiences during the World War II years of 1943, 1944 and 1945. As in Volume 1, the stories include combat briefs, mission troubles, humor in the midst of war, evasion and imprisonment after being shot down.
The strength of this collection is that the stories are presented through the eyes of the participants. Some of the articles were written as they happened during the war years while others are recollections of those events about forty years later. The reader will be provided with a vivid, colorful insight of wartime service with a very famous Bomber Group in the Eighth Air Force.
The 390th Bomb Group equipped with B17 aircraft (Flying Fortress) flew 301 missions against Hitler's German forces. This effort had a profound affect on the outcome of World War II in Europe.
